About
Through abstraction, color, and atmosphere, I explore the state of emotional coherence—how tension, fragmentation, and dissonance might transform into states of balance and wholeness. Rather than depicting the state of rupture or anxiety, my paintings create immersive spaces of stillness, luminosity, and quiet optimism. Working primarily through subtle shifts in color, light, and gradient, I am interested in how emotional states can be experienced atmospherically rather than through narrative or representation.
Influenced by experiences with energy healing, intuition, and a personal freedom journey, I think of my paintings as visual meditations that operate on both energetic and emotional levels. I pay close attention to the psychological and bodily effects of color relationships, and to the ways softness, spatial balance, and immersion can shape the viewer’s internal experience. I aim to create works that are felt before they are understood.
I work primarily with oil and natural earth pigments on canvas and linen. This material choice is shaped by both environmental sensitivity and a desire for a more grounded, elemental relationship to color, reflecting my interest in slowness, sensitivity, and emotional atmosphere. My process is intuitive and layered, often unfolding over multiple sessions in which emotional release gradually gives way to refinement and resolution. I am drawn to moments where color and form dissolve into one another, where no single element dominates, and where the composition settles into equilibrium. Through this process, I explore beauty not as decoration, but as a state that emerges through integration, transmutation, and emotional clarity.
Ultimately, my work imagines harmony not as the absence of pain or conflict, but as the result of holding complexity with maturity and grace. The paintings function as contemplative environments that invite slowness, surrender, and a sense of internal stillness.
Bio
I am a self-taught abstract painter working primarily with oil on linen and canvas. I was born in Washington, D.C. in 1997 and grew up moving between China, Russia, Turkmenistan, England, and the United States. Though home remains the coast of Maine, especially the mossy forests and rocky shores of New Harbor, each place I have lived has shaped my sensitivity to atmosphere, color, emotional energy, and the relationship between inner and outer environments.
I studied philosophy in Colorado before returning to painting several years later as part of a broader emotional and spiritual healing journey. In 2025, I committed fully to developing my artistic practice through intuitive abstraction and atmospheric color field painting. My work is rooted in the belief that healing is possible for everyone, though deeply personal in its process and expression. Influenced by meditation, energy work, and emotional transmutation, I create paintings that seek to evoke calm, coherence, and subtle healing through color, balance, and immersion.
I currently work nomadically throughout Southeast Asia, building temporary studios wherever I travel and allowing place, light, and atmosphere to inform each body of work. I have previously exhibited at the River Arts in Damariscotta, Maine, and plan to continue exhibiting my work upon returning to the United States.
